Rapid changes in immigrant population characterized advanced economies over the last few decades. This represents a challenge for the labor market and social institutions, but also an opportunity for the international competitiveness of countries. Immigrants contribute to general awareness about their origin countries lowering the transaction trade cost. Also, immigrants bring along their knowledge at destination and improve the export performance of the receiving countries.
This workshop will bring together leading scholars who are currently studying these issues, and add a special focus on policy relevant questions.
